How to Make Sourdough Garlic Knots

Learn how to make these easy Sourdough Garlic Knots with a fragrant garlic butter!

 Ingredients:

Dough •Bread Flour •Salt •Sugar •Sourdough Starter •Water •Olive Oil Garlic Butter •Unsalted butter •Parsley •Parmesan •Red Pepper Flakes •Garlic Cloves

1. Mix the Dough

Mix the dough ingredients in the bowl of a stand mixer (or by hand) for 8-10 minutes, or until the dough can stretch without tearing.

2. Bulk Fermentation

Place the dough in a bowl in a warm location to bulk ferment for about 4 hours until doubled in size.

3. Chill the Dough

To make shaping easier, chill the dough for at least an hour and up to two days. This will also improve flavor.

4. Divide & Shape

Divide the dough into 12 equal-sized pieces. Roll into logs and tie into knots (video on recipe site).

5. Final Proof

Place on a parchment lined baking sheet and proof for 1 to 2 hours until doubled in size.

6. Bake

Preheat the oven to 400ºF (204ºC). Brush with an egg wash and bake the knots for 17-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

7. Make the Garlic Butter

Melt the butter in a pan over the stovetop and roast the minced garlic until browned. Pour into a bowl and stir in parmesan, parsley, salt, and red pepper flakes.

8. Toss Together

Toss the baked sourdough garlic knots and garlic butter in a covered bowl until the knots are doused in the hot garlic butter.

Enjoy!

These garlic knots are best enjoyed warm and have a soft, pull-apart texture that's great dipped in marinara sauce.
