Sourdough Honey Cornbread

Ingredients Needed:

•All-purpose flour •Cornmeal •Baking Powder •Baking Soda •Salt •Honey •Buttermilk •Sourdough starter (or discard) •Eggs •Butter Neutral oil

1. Preheat Oven and Skillet

For crispy edges, preheat your oven to 425ºF with a dry cast-iron skillet in the cold oven.

2. Mix Dry Ingredients

In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

3. Whisk Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, honey, sourdough starter, buttermilk, and neutral oil.

4. Mix Batter

Add the wet ingredients to the bowl of dry ingredients and mix together. For a fluffy cornbread, don't over mix! It's okay if lumps remain.

5. Bake

Add butter to the hot cast iron skillet.  When melted, pour in the batter and bake for 15-18 minutes. Cool on a wire rack.

Serve and Enjoy!

Serve the cornbread warm with butter and a drizzle of honey! It's also great as a side with chili, at Thanksgiving, or a snack alone.
